8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
SESSION 1: ITAR BASICS

Export controls and compliance with the regulations has long been a complex issue for exporters because it is not always obvious what items may fall under the control of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Determining agency jurisdiction and classification under the appropriate regulations is difficult and requires a comprehensive understanding of the regulations. Non-compliance may result in lost business, fines, criminal and civil action.
Through a review of the regulations as they currently exist and particle examples, the participant will gain an understanding of how to navigate ITAR, properly classify exports and obtain the necessary permission to export. You will also learn what remains under ITAR control and what has moved to the EAR, leading us into Session 2: EAR Reform.

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
SESSION 2: EAR REFORM

The classification and compliance process has only become more complex under the new Export Control Reform (ECR) regulations. Under the new reform, items are being moved from the US Munitions List to the Commerce Control List and these products now fall under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Picking up where Session 1 leaves off, this program will begin with an introduction to the EAR. You will learn the items and activities are subject to the EAR; steps to take to determine the export licensing requirements for your item; how to determine your export control classification number (ECCN); and more. This session will also discuss the new 600 series and other critical changes to the EAR.
