INCOTERMS were developed by International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)  to minimize communication errors in  international trade. The first edition of  “International Rules for the Interpretation of Trade Terms” was published in 1936, and there have been numerous revisions ever since.  The new INCOTERMS 2020  edition will be effective on January 1, 2020

This program will provide not only an understanding of the updated terms and definitions of INCOTERMS 2020,  but also provide actual examples of using them to your advantage in purchase orders, sales agreements and even letters of credit.  Not using the best term in the proper context can be costly; don’t realize your mistake when it is too late.

Agenda:

  • Background of INCOTERMS
  • Relationship between INCOTERMS and payment terms
  • What has changed with INCOTERMS 2020
  • Can you still use INCOTERMS 2010
  • Responsibilities of each term
  • Application of the various terms in international transactions
